Perhaps Chuck Fletcher is trying to sign every 30+ year-old defenseman as a way to disguise one of the best young defensive prospects pool in the league ahead of the Seattle expansion draft?
That or giving Alain Vigneault every excuse possible not to play Myers/Morin/etc. |

Probably gonna want to get used to that. Ask the Rangers fans about how much playing time their young guys got over maggots like Tanner Glass |

Or they need mentors for their young D core. Braun is signed for 1 year. Niskanen for 2. Niskanen is unquestionably an upgrade from Gudas. And now that they have acquired 2 right-handed D (30+ or not) they have a little extra leverage over Sanheim in their contract negotiations with him because they can trade him for big value right now and still have Ghost, Provy, Myers, Morin, Hagg, etc. |

Same old same old for the flyers looks like another year of mediocrity for them pretty much the same as the last ten or so |

Hopefully that means there is some trade in the works for a forward. I can't imagine they keep all 8 defenseman.. I hope I'm just overreacting |

With our logjam of D we already have why oa fletcher bringing in more Dmen? Someone is getting traded. (Frank) fletcher.... I'm nervous now
I like the niskanen trade but I'm not a fan of this.
8 Dmen on one way contracts? |

If this is the case, can you guys really afford not to trade for Zaitsev? |

I think one of Ghost/Hagg/Morin is the next to go. You have your 3 RHD in Niskanen, Braun, Myers and LHD in Provy, Sanheim... one of the aforementioned 3 trade bait candidates.
Who and what you trade them for remains to be seen |

Fletcher so far this month...
Acquired:
F Kevin Hayes (UFA Signing Rights)
D Matt Niskanen
D Justin Braun
Traded:
D Radko Gudas (30% Retained Salary)
2019 2nd round pick
2019 5th round pick
2020 3rd round pick
Something else is definitely coming (and I hope it's not an overpay for Hayes) |

So the Flyers now have 3 right handed defensemen: Myers, Braun and Niskanen.
They loose the Gudas suspension distraction and the AMac contract.
I think that the D might just be a little bit better when the dust settles. |

Morin is still an unknown, so that would be dumb to trade him at this point. Hagg isn't going to get them what they need up front, unless its with that 11 pick. And selling Ghost low after last years down year, also doesn't make sense. The more I think about it, it probably will be Ghost |

The Vlasic and Braun tandem was one of the best Shut Down pairs in the NHL..Sorry to see him leave but with Seattle Draft coming and cap space needed you could see the writing on the wall. Good Luck Justin and Flyer fans will love his honest play. He will make your team better |

This move leads me to believe Fletch is loading up to make a big move (PK?) which might require more than one younger defensemen going the other way or it's insulation against Provorov holding out if the negotiations get contentious. Maybe EK was right...it's pure bedlam I tell you! But not as much as that Toronto victory parade from all the shooting reports... |

Not sure why everyone is hyped about this Braun and Niskanen all seem like lateral moves to me , I hope something else is coming. |

I disagree that they are lateral moves. They don't get any younger, but they get pretty decent defensemen..don't get that much older, and lose the dumb penalties from Gudas and the turnover proneness of MacDonald. Niskanen and Braun are upgrades. |

ok so you're telling me you want discipline, there are serviceable guys in free agency that can do that. I'm just wrapping my head around Wilson getting a second for Braun.
